The Will to Believe

In order to create, accomplish, attain, realize, or fulfill, we must have vision. Vision of what is possible. Vision of ourselves preparing, executing, and actualizing. Vision that is either broad or concise. A futuristic orientation of what is possible or what could become. Where does this vision come from, and what does it mean for the vision to manifest? Belief precedes all vision because belief allows us to trust in something non-existent so that it may be called into existence. Belief provides vision, but not only does it provide vision, it also provides confidence in the vision. This confidence is an allowance of the vision having the potential to manifest. It is a trust in the vision as well as the belief itself. When one trusts in the self, they create a permission of power, both physical and mental, that are necessary to will the belief into existence. Willing a belief into existence establishes a reality that occupies a physical dimension (a new job, a loving marriage, a work of art, a cup of coffee (we have to begin our day somewhere)) or a non-physical dimension (better self-esteem, a reduction in anxiety, an optimistic outlook, etc.). Beliefs can occur without our knowledge, or we can be aware of them. They can be intentional or unintentional. Systematized or abstract. Simple or complex.

But from where do my beliefs come? What is their purpose? Are my present beliefs something that genuinely serves my existence? How can I change them? Perhaps all of these questions can be answered in varying perspectives from general to analytic. However, the reason for asking these questions is for you to ponder them, develop your own individual response, and create a thirst that allows for a quest in the pursuit of knowledge and meaning. For the time being, be grateful for your will to believe. It is a gift that transports us through our daily lives and is essential to our survival. Your beliefs are deeply and profoundly human.
