LGBTQ+
There are many facets and complexities when it comes to LGBTQ identity. While having studied LGBTQ culture, psychology, and history extensively, I also understand the intricacies of sexual identity through my identification along the spectrum. While the fight for equality continues, problems facing the community continue to rage onward at institutional, societal, familial, and individual levels. I take into account my client’s spectrum identity, and I also look beyond to discover what makes them truly unique. My focus is for anyone who is looking for an LGBTQ therapist in Denver, or the state of Colorado, to come to their therapy session and become more than their sexual identity, to transcend cultural boundaries so they may grow into their most genuinely authentic self. I want you to be a high-functioning and widely respected member of your community, a beacon of light for others who are struggling, and a symbol of hope for yourself.
In order to achieve the aspirations you have for yourself, it is important to see your reflection and understand the implications of your various thoughts and behaviors. Therapy, in its practice, is reflective and allows you to become vulnerable with yourself allowing for transformative exploration in the core of your being. Beyond this, I know that the following issues can all be struggles that community members face:
coming out as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning
addiction
unlocking your creative self
working through a traumatic event
developing stronger boundaries
anxiety
finding meaningful friendships or romantic relationships
enhancing your sex life
feeling disconnected from cultural aspects of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or queer community
feeling accepted in your LGBTQ identity by others
difficulties with understanding or accepting one’s identity
having a happy and healthy sex life, sex-positive and kink-friendly
sensitivity toward rejection or abandonment
self-worth and self-esteem
finding your Denver friends or circle
reconnecting with family members
living authentically
trusting yourself and others
infidelity (e.g. your boyfriend, girlfriend, or partner is cheating emotionally or sexually)
conflict with family members
couples counseling
reconciling your faith and sexuality
work or systemic oppression
I offer services to both individuals as well as gay couples or marriage counseling (gay used as an umbrella term). Let’s start with what’s most present for you; I want to hear about your journey and all of the experiences that encompass your story. Whether you are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, pansexual, or other non-conforming or non-binary identities, I am a therapist that is here to affirm who you are and hold you accountable so you may become who you would like to be. Whether you live in Denver or elsewhere in Colorado, I am committed to elevating you above any obstacles that stand in your way. Regardless of your LGBTQ membership status, I am a therapist that encourages you to achieve your therapeutic goals and live a life full of wonderment and integrity.
